Embedded Systems

Welcome to the Embedded Systems Research Group at PAF-KIET. Our current research activities focus on

  • Reconfigurable Computing, FPGA Architecture and CAD tools
  • FPGA-based Systems Design and Embedded Real-time Systems

Few of our past funded projects are

  • The design and exploration of reconfigurable architectures, related CAD tools, and FPGA-based systems design. We have received 13.4 million PKR funding from ICTRnD to conduct research on alternate FPGA/Reconfigurable architectures. The project was conducted from 2012 to 2014.
  • The design and development of an FPGA-based Face Recognition System. We have received 13.7 million PKR funding from ICTRnD to develop Robus Face Recognition System in collaboration with Signal Processing Research Group. The project was conducted from 2013 to 2018.
  • Design and exploration of Logic Intensive Reconfigurable Architectures and related CAD tools. The project was funded by University Umm-al-Qura, KSA. The total project funding was 2000,000 SAR (Equivalent 52 million PKR). We received 4.5 million PKR. The project was conducted from 2015 to 2017.

We look forward to expand our research activities towards other exciting avenues of research and development in the domain of embedded systems design and their applications.
